At the intersection with East Wall Road a new signalised junction will be required to allow the right turn for city bound guided buses. Dishing of the kerb would be required. Outbound buses would be a left turn and this could be done at the same location as the inbound junction or alternatively buses could complete the turn on the paved area and join East Wall Road where the second Northbound lane begins.
It is critical that high priority signalling be provided at the three junctions along the East Wall Road and that high levels of enforcement are brought to bear on clearway and buslane violations along this section.
At the port tunnel priority traffic could be separated from all other traffic by using the left inbound and outbound slip lanes. The full benefits of this will have to be fully quantified.
